So, I'm trying to figure out if the following is possible:

  • Linux desktop running whatever distro will make it happen
  • XBMC desktop on the living room television
    • Using remote for this session & control of XBMC
  • Standard desktop on separate screen nearby on same machine
    • Using keyboard & mouse for session & system control

I want to have separate logins/sessions for each screen so that I won't have to run XBMC as a user and will still have the ability to do work from this machine on the secondary standard desktop using a mouse & keyboard.

Is there a better way to do this than using the 'Fast User Switching' built into the desktop managers?

Or am I going to be forced to run XBMC as a user & tweak the application display settings so that XBMC is locked to one screen?
